INVISALIGN
- What are Invisalign?
- Called invisible aligners, are a type of orthodontic treatment that corrects misaligned or crooked teeth
- They are a virtually invisible and removable alternative to braces designed around convenience and flexibility
- Invisalign trays are custom-made for every patient, depending on the severity of teeth misalignment (malocclusion).
- Invisalign® In the 1990s, Align Technology created the first sequence of aligners that could correct complex orthodontic issues in adults, teens, and children.
- Invisalign is now the most popular and widely-known clear aligner available.
- Invisalign aligners are made out of SmartTrack® material that is specifically engineered for the Invisalign system.
- Invisalign can treat a variety of different cases, including:
- Crowded teeth — when the teeth overlap
- Overbites — when the upper front teeth
- Overlap with the lower front teeth
- Underbites — when the lower front teeth overlap with the upper front teeth
- Diastema — when there are small or large gaps between the teeth
- Open bites — when the front upper and lower teeth slant outward and do not touch when the mouth is shut (This is a very rare type of malocclusion)
- Misaligned primary (baby) teeth — clear aligners can be used during phase Orthodontic treatment to make room for existing baby teeth and developing permanent teeth. Children between 6 and 10 years of age are candidates for this treatment.
- Treatment Plan and treatment for placement of Invisalign:
- Check up and Consultation
Teeth must be deep cleaned by a dentist before braces are placed. If other oral care treatments are needed, such as periodontal disease treatment, cavity fillings, or tooth extractions, they should be completed before orthodontic treatment as well.
- Treatment plan:
+ Take X – ray CT ConeBeam 3D at Global Dental Center
+ Scan 3D at Global Dental Center (After the teeth impressions are made, your custom treatment plan will be created using 3D technology)
+ Dentist making Clincheck (Custom treatment plan is made)
+ When you accept treatment, once approved, the digital models are transferred to a production facility and the Invisalign are made, and begin the process.
- Placement of Invisalign:
+ Dentist make the bonding attackments on your teeth (In addition, your Invisalign provider may use attachments to further perfect your smile. In some cases, tooth-colored composite “bumps” may be placed on your teeth that help the aligner grip the teeth better, which can then result in the desired tooth movement)
+ You’ll change out the aligner trays every 1 to 3 weeks. Each set of aligners will slowly move the teeth into the correct position. For effective teeth straightening, you must wear them for about 20 to 22 hours a day.
+ Follow-Up Visits:
You’ll receive several sets of Invisalign aligners at once, which you will need to change every two weeks or so. You will only need to visit a professional every 6 weeks or so.
For an at-home Invisalign treatment plan, all of your check-ups will be done remotely, every 6 weeks or so. You will also have access to the company’s network of remote orthodontists or dentist in case you need help.
+ Invisalign treatment time is usually between 12 and 18 months (Depend on case)
- After treatment is complete:
+ A custom clear retainer is made from a mold of your newly straightened teeth.
+ Retainers should be worn every night while sleeping to ensure malocclusion does not recur over time.
- What are the pros and cons of Invisalign?
Pros:
- Invisalign allows you to view what your smile will look like when treatment is complete, even at the start of your treatment plan. No longer will you have to wonder what the end result will be — you can see it yourself.
- Instead of bonding to the teeth like metal or clear braces do, Invisalign trays are entirely removable. They can be taken out of the mouth before drinking and eating. They are also removed before brushing and flossing your teeth. Removable — for optimal results, patients must wear Invisalign for 22 hours a day. This means that the aligners can be removed during eating and drinking
- Unlike metal braces, Invisalign doesn’t rub or irritate your mouth like wires and brackets can. This means you don’t have to worry about applying wax to irritating brackets because the inside of your cheeks are scratched, bleeding and sore — this simply isn’t a problem with Invisalign.
- Invisalign clear aligners are almost undetectable. This makes them an attractive option for people who don’t want noticeable metal brackets in their mouths (This design makes the trays less irritating and even more ‘invisible.’)
- Comfortable — Invisalign retainers are produced from special plastic and are custom-fitted to each patient’s mouth. This makes the retainers more comfortable than braces.
- Treatment is completed remotely, so you will never visit a dentist or an orthodontist for checkups
- Invisalign treatment time is usually between 12 and 18 months.
Cons:
- Patients must be disciplined — the chance to remove your aligners is both a benefit and a disadvantage. Patients must have a high level of self-discipline to brush their teeth and put their aligners back in after eating or drinking. Otherwise, the treatment will not provide the most effective results.
- More expensive treatment cost – Expensive (high cost).
